Titulo: Engineering spin transport in finite super lattices
Ponente: Julio Drake, Departamento de Física General FFUH

Resumen: Spin dependent transport in finite super lattices (SLs) subjected to electric fields are investigated in a regimen in which the Dresselhaus term is the main contribution to the Spin-orbit interaction (SOI) in the effective Hamiltonian. Spin polarized transmission coefficients, density of states, group velocities and phase delay times for these systems are obtained and compared with previous results without applied external field. Differences due to the symmetry breaking action of the electric field are founded to be reflected in the named magnitudes. The symmetry can be (partially) restored by "quantum engineering" the structure, using a variable spaced SL (VSSL), a device in which the transmission is enhanced by appropriate alignments of the energy levels for a given critical field. After theoretical design of a VSSL, their spin dependent transport properties are studied. The interesting spin dependence present in such systems point out to their possible use as spin filter spin injector, an important issue in today nanotechnology efforts.
